Out on Our Own - Volume 30, Issue

We have finally reached an era where talking about our mental health is no longer a taboo, it’s just taken a pandemic for us to do so! Life has dramatically changed in the last 18 months and mental stressors are even more apparent

The Webscout - Volume 23, Issue

What happens pre-approval? The theme of this issue made me wonder what it is that happens before approval of a new medication. Of course, it is clinical development, notably phase II and phase III studies. But many years have already passed before…

EMWA News - Volume 28, Issue

Last year, the November conference in Warsaw reached a record of attendees. Now, we are two months away from the annual spring conference in the beautiful city of Vienna, and we are beyond excited. This time, the 7th EMWA Symposium will focus on…

English Grammar and Style: Good Writing Practice - Volume 24, Issue

I reached Myth 45 about English in Medical Writing, Vol. 21(1) 2012. Three more have turned up since then, which all fit into the category of language users who rule by whim. All were – as so often – claims made by native speakers, which again just…

Message from the President - Volume 21, Issue

Dear Members I am sure you are all very familiar with this situation – sitting in front of a blank piece of paper (or to be more accurate a blank screen) and wondering where to start. Beginnings and endings always seem to be the trickiest part, but…

Risk Management - Volume 24, Issue

The thalidomide tragedy of the early 1960s cost several thousand lives, but it ultimately led to changes that will undoubtedly save many thousands more: it triggered a chain of events involving the WHO and the ICH that resulted in the…
